Greenhead Gig - 2nd July 2005 So, we
travelled about 45 miles to
The Greenhead Hotel for our last gig on 2nd July. OK, it
doesn't sound far, but in the Janitor Mobile with no
air-con, on a hot day it's no picnic, believe me.
Especially when Mark is having one his (many
loudest/smelliest) fart days. Anyway, the weather was
great so a quick pint outside seemed to make sense,
although I didn't expect a bird to take a dump in mine,
but that's almost another news story in itself. And no,
I didn't drink it.
Anyway, I digress. We eventually got round to setting up
and found out that one of our PA speakers had decided to
take the day off, and the alarm bells started ringing!
For a minute or two Dave had the rest of us spellbound
with his screwdriver skills, none of which seemed to fix
the problem at hand. We soon realised it was knacked. We
discussed many contingency plans, and eventually decided
on an emergency phone call to our good mate Gordon. "No
problem", he says, "meet you in Hexham, you can borrow
our speakers". So, about an hour later that's where we
are, in Hexham, by the river hugging Gordon furiously in
a way that must have concerned the decent folk walking
their dog. If it looked worrying, we apologise, but
Gordon did save the day. Top man Gordon, we owe you one,
or two. God bless
