Mark's goodbye . . . . . . . .
Thought I'd write a little
bit for the web site about me leaving and all that , hoo
. . . . .
The Janitors were born out
of wanting to play music but being too old to do it
really . The line ups have changed more than the UK
SUBS and that's saying something !
Although I have left the
band I still feel a big part of it, I suppose it's in my
blood, I don't want to get all sentimental about this
but I will miss it, I will miss the practicing, it was
always a laugh, oooh me sides! I will miss the gigs, I
loved every minute. There are one or two venues I
didn't enjoy that much and sometimes I did find myself
on stage thinking what the fuck am I doing here.
My last gig with the Janitors will always be remembered
because I was attacked on stage by a girl who seemed to
want to play my bass, it was during 'Too Drunk', it was
bizarre, I was a little concerned for me Bass so I'm not
proud to say I pushed her so hard she fell over into the
drum kit, flat on her arse taking a few stands and
cymbals with her! Well she had missed the key change!
There wasn't that many like that though. When The
Janitors were started, all I wanted to do was support UK
SUBS, I did that so I'm happy. Supporting the Vibrators
was also a highlight, playing the Greenhead Pub and
traveling down to Stockport were all great. The Three
Tuns gigs were always fun because of the support so
cheers to everyone who came, including the Birtley
Massive! You know who you are.
A huge thanks to Andy (first
drummer). I don't think I was that fair on you when you
left, so I'm sorry if you felt I was a bit hard, I can
be unfair sometimes, ask Andrew. We had a laugh Andy so
cheers for that mate and you were a great Drummer. Also
a big thank you to Kev (play it faster) who stood in for
us for about 3 years; well it seemed that long. Another
top bloke and someone I consider a friend, I will always
remember that gig we played when I broke my bass string
on the first note of the first song! And Paul,
what can I say but I had a lol time when you were in the
band mate and I wish you all the luck in the world with
your "New Kids On The Block" covers band, keep "hanging
tough". ps; Are you on crack?!
A big thanks to Andrew and
Dave who keep on going, they are like the Charlie Harper
and Captain Sensible of the punk covers world. My two
best mates, so it's not as though I won't
be seeing them, but thanks for putting up with me and my
mistakes and thanks for all the laughs we had. Thanks to
Lee who has taken over from me and good luck to the new
drummer. I will be at a few gigs in the future down the
front shouting for a Janny trebbler or 68 guns.
So it is with great sadness
that I say goodbye.
Cheers, Mark
